You’ll get the new updates in a few hours. If you don’t, just manually update them or reset XKit (recommended if you can’t get updates) by going to www.tumblr.com/xkit_reset
I’m still working on Ask-Tagging and some brand new features!
Thanks for the patience.
There are some known errors in XKit that started after the change happened last weekend, and some more that actually started after the change (probably some minor changes Tumblr made afterwards)
These include tagging not working in inbox, quick-reblog not working (for a small minority of users) and some other small bugs.
I’m asking for your patience until I can find a timeslot for myself between work and my finals again.
Thank you :3
zenrolf replied your post The old FAQ was kind of out of date, so Ive decided to re-write the page. Its not only easier to navigate, it answers some of the questions I receive most these days like What does Download Not CRX Means? and Can you make an Anon Tracker?Go!
Question: What is that weird squiggly drawing as your mascot?
It’s called a “Xenixlet”, it’s like a creepy yellow lizard/panda/penguin combo. =3
Important: This is a hack. It is also a brand new extension so I don’t know how well it works. It’s only here for people who want something “bleeding edge.”
Miss the old Create Post pages?
ClassicNew does just that: have your cake and eat it now: create new text and link posts without restraining yourself into that small boxy on your dashboard, and without switching your user-agent.
It only works on Firefox and on text and link posts for now, but it is here for you to download so you can give me a feedback on it. If it’s popular, I’ll add more post types and make it available for Chrome too.
You can get it from the XKit Extension Control panel. If you do, please do tell me what you think about it and if it works properly on your computer. Thank you.
The version of One-Click Postage changed the sources to the blog you were reblogging it from. So sorry about that, and it’s been fixed now.
You can get the update by:
Tumblr, along with other websites feed different scripts depending on what your browser you are using. By changing your User Agent, you might be getting scripts that might be incompatible with your browser.
XKit is not designed to work when your browser is advertising itself as Internet Explorer, and no support will be provided if you do that.
This is apparently a known bug on some versions of Chrome. Follow the instructions below to fix it:
If you are downloading XKit from somewhere other than the Google Web Store:
Don’t. You are probably using an outdated link, or an unauthorized mirror. Do not install extensions for Chrome from anywhere other than the Web Store, they might be broken or modified in ways that might compromise your security/privacy.
If you are downloading XKit from the Google Web Store:
Apparently, a workaround for this is to go in “Incognito Mode” (Ctrl-Shift-N) and install the extension there. You can try this, or right-click and download it, and then go to your browser settings > Extensions and drag-drop the file there.
Two “sad” news:
Click on the X icon and remove both extensions if you have them installed, and enable One-Click Postage to regain quick-reblogging again.
After the latest changes, a lot of things broke on XKit as you know.
After a couple of hours of reverse-engineering and guessing and losing my hair, I’ve fixed the following:
XInbox
One-Click Reply
Go-To-Dash
And finally:
One-Click Postage
Sorry about the delay, they’ve changed the whole back-end so it took hours to figure out how to re-write those extensions (and re-writing them.)
UPDATE:
It took a while and it required me rewriting most of it but One-Click Postage now works. You can get the new extension by clicking on the X icon, then clicking on One-Click Postage and clicking “Re-install / Manually Update This Extension”
Though all the changes are new, I need your feedback. Let me know if it works or not. Thank you.
More fixes are coming soon.
A lot of people have been telling me that their one-click reblog functions are broken since “Tumblr changed something.”
Weirdly, on my account, everything works and everything is how it “was,” so I don’t know when I will be able to fix this.
Please be patient.
Thank you.
Someone pointed out to me that the intro text of the Big Update Friday, “decided to work on XKit”, sounds like I only update XKit whenever I feel like it.
I would like to point out that I have a university that I have to graduate from, and have a job, I write code both at work and at home to support myself. The free time I got today was the result of skipping work since I was not feeling well this morning. The rest of the free time I have, I use to relax, since I need it. Even with that, when Tumblr breaks something, XKit is usually the first extension to be compatible with it.
No software is immune to bugs. If a huge multinational corporation with thousands of employees can sell applications with bugs in it, I think I can be excused for releasing one, as you should see that I am only one person with limited resources.
There are over 200,000 people using XKit. I would like everyone to experience a bug/trouble-free XKit experience. But I am only one human, after all. I try my best, test each extension on 3 different browsers, and under different scenarios. But Tumblr is always changing things, making it hard to spot all the bugs and broken stuff.
I just would like you to keep in mind that XKit is not a commercial product: it costs you nothing to install it, uninstall it, file a bug report or reset it. On the other hand, it costs me money (on web servers XKit uses to update and install itself) and time. And sometimes, my sanity.
And on donations, I would like to clarify that I don’t use them as bribes or anything, just use them to minimize what this is costing me. And please don’t think I receive $200/day on donations or anything.
I really appreciate all the thank you asks, promotions, bug reports, feature requests, and donations. I would appreciate this whole thing if people stopped acting like they’ve paid $150 just to download XKit. This is a personal hobby, made publicly available so more people can enjoy Tumblr better, and save time.
Thank you for your time and understanding, and for using XKit.
I had some time to myself and I’ve decided to fix, update and add fixes to XKit. After 7 hours and a pack of cigarettes later, I’ve pushed updates to the most used extensions of XKit, which should make XKit 6 look more like XKit 6.5.
Click on the Read More to learn more about these features, how to get them, and how to fix One-Click reblog if you are still having problems with it.
Looks like Tumblr changed and broke some stuff again. It’s been fixed now. Please wait a couple of hours, or update One-Click Postage manually from the XKit Control Panel.
To update manually:
(Update: One-Click Postage Classic is also fixed.)
