You probably got the update already, but here’s what’s new in XKit Next 1.0.9:
If you are using Chrome, I suggest you take XKit Next for a test drive.
I keep getting a lot of asks or seeing comments about it, even though it is explained in the FAQ, so I’m just gonna post this here and on the News section, just in case.
This might happen if you delete your cookies and stored application data. If you are using “Clear Browsing Data” or any other similar feature, this might also delete XKit data.
If you want to delete data stored on your computer, do not choose “Delete cookies and other site and plug-in data”, “Clear data from hosted apps”, “Delete Offline Website Data” or any other setting. Doing so will cause your browser to delete XKit’s data, prompting it to re-install itself.
There is nothing I can do about this, you are ordering your browser to clean XKit data. I can’t make XKit say “okay delete all user data but leave me alone” to your browser.
It took more than 3 hours but.. I think I kinda got it to work.
Reblog Yourself is back in the Extension Gallery (yes, you need to download it again because it’s a different extension.) It is in beta, and probably unstable, so I’m not sure if it will work, or for how long it will work before Tumblr blocks it again.
For all the people who’ve been supportive today, thank you for your patience.
I rarely make my opinions public on this blog, since it should be used for updates on XKit, not my opinions. But I’ve been getting a lot of asks, replies and seeing posts about this.
Yes, I’ve removed Reblog Yourself. The idea behind it was not to take away features from you for fun.
It was not working. Tumblr blocked it, and it requires a huge amount of code to re-implement it. In the meanwhile, it would be wrong to have that extension on the gallery, since people were sending me bug reports about it not working.
I am streamlining XKit. I would rather have an extension that has 10 functions that work, than an extension that has 40 extensions, with only 5 of them working.
As I said, I am working on it, and you’ll be notified by XKit News section when it returns.
Calling me names and swearing, and treating me with switching to another extension or uninstalling XKit is counter-productive, and will not make Reblog Yourself return any sooner.
Thank you.
Sorry about the lack of updates on the XKit Classic side.
A couple of updates today:
In addition to that, in order to concentrate better on XKit Next and make XKit more stable, unfortunately, I had to discontinue some extensions.
I’m trying to make XKit and XKit Next both faster, lightweight and more stable. If you have any extensions that has been discontinued, you’ll receive a message from XKit telling you that it removed them.
Update: This includes Reblog Yourself, which stopped working a few days ago when Tumblr blocked it. It will return in the future.
Another day, another update. (This will continue until XKit Next reaches a certain, stable point by the way, sorry about that!)
Today’s Update Menu is:
You can learn how to update your XKit Next now by clicking here.
First of all, thank you so much for the feedback.
Secondly, today I’m releasing 1.0.4 version of XKit Next, which should address most of the asks I’ve received or posts about it I’ve seen:
Oh and if you miss the bubble, you can go to http://www.tumblr.com/xkit_toogle_mannerisms to activate/deactivate it again.
Seems like Tumblr broke another functionality, reblogging your own posts back to your own blog.
For the time being, you can use the One-Click Postage menu until I try to find a way to fix this.
Thank you.
People, if you are experiencing problems with One-Click Postage, as I said before numerous times, please submit to me (or use the bug report form on xkit.info to send) your XKit Log, located on www.tumblr.com/xkit_log
Just try reblogging something, and when you get the error message, go to that page and copy your log.
Thank you.
