One-Click Reply
Again, even if not related to XKit, I’ve spotted that they are making some changes, and updated One-Click Reply. Go to the XKit Control Panel and update One-Click Reply, make sure you have version “1.3 REV C”.
That should fix the tagging problem that started happening when the defaulting-to-draft problem appeared. (and strangely, that fixes Tumblr’s bug, defaulting to Publish also. (on some pages it does) I think they are working on a new post system, or at least adjustments to it.)
For some bizarre reason, when you try to make a new post, Tumblr defaults to Save Draft, not Publish. This continues even after disabling XKit, so it’s not related to it.
Tumblr folk are probably working on it right now, and it should be fixed in a few hours, I think.
Things that happened in the last 2 days:
XKit is updated a lot. This is due to Tumblr changes and me adding features or fixing bugs. After a while, you might get bored with “XKit updated x extensions” bubble. (Even though it disappears when you refresh the page, and appears at most 2 times/day)
So I’ve made a few changes:
I’ve just pushed these updates, so it might take ~45 mins - 1 hour to get the new setting on the control panel and the progress bubble.
This version is for Firefox users only. On Chrome, XKit updates itself automatically, and Safari 6 users do not have to update.
Firefox 22 brought some changes that broke XKit. If your XKit is missing, please follow the following steps to get it back:
I’m so sorry about this. If you hit any bugs, please let me know.
In addition to the Highlighter and Mass+ extensions, here are the updates for the XKit extensions for today.

Blacklist
A bug in Blacklist version 1.7 Rev A (released ~45 minutes ago) rendered Blacklist useless if you had (and since it’s enabled by default, there is a high chance that you have it) “Don’t block my own posts” on.
It’s been fixed in version 1.7 Rev B, so if you are on 1.7 Rev A, please update it manually from the control panel. I’m so sorry about this.
A lot of new extensions and features this week, compiled in case you’ve missed them.
A recent Tumblr change broke Unreverse causing the buttons to float on the left side of the posts. It’s been fixed in Unreverse 0.3 Rev B now, and you should get the update in an hour (or you can manually update it).
A few people told me that using the XKit Blacklist extension causes the Infinite-scroll on the dashboard to stop working. One also told me that Tumblr Savior also causes this, so it’s not XKit related, it’s blacklisting related.
Now I’m not sure what is going on. It might be a honest mistake, caused by calculating the height of the posts to trigger the page loading before the blacklisting extensions work, or an attempt to make sure you see the sponsored posts. (I’ve written about this but everyone told me I’m a sell-out, gone soft etc. oh well. can’t please anyone now.)
I’m trying to figure out what is going on, but due to Tumblr obscuring it’s code, (all functions/variables have names like a, x, o, j…) it will take a while.
If it is a mistake, it will get corrected in a day at most. If it’s not, and if I can’t find a way to fix this, yes, Blacklist extension might fade out.
I’m terribly sorry about this, but this is beyond my control. If you have any idea on what might be going on, please send me an ask.
Some new features and bug fixes today:
And in case you’ve missed, yesterday’s update brought some small bug fixes and AutoScroll, and sunday’s update 3 news extensions and a lot of new features for existing extensions.
Four updates today:
There is a problem with Fan Mail, when you click on Fan Mail icon on the user avatar menu, it directs the mail to your blog, not the person you are trying to send it to. It only appears to be doing this on the Inbox.
I’ve disabled/uninstalled XKit, and the problem still continues, meaning it is a Tumblr-related problem, and not an XKit bug. They are probably working on fixing that. I can’t provide any help on this, sorry.
A lot of new extensions, features and bug fixes today.
It is pretty long, so it’s been read-mored to not clutter your dashboard.
I would like to clarify two things about XKit since I am getting a lot of asks about these.
Notifications
You can turn off notifications. The setting is under the “Other” tab, under “News” section. There is also a news item on the News tab titled “News Update” which describes how to turn them off, and I’ve made several posts on this blog on how to turn them off.
The notifications are there since most of the new features added are turned off by default to preserve your settings, and without them there is no way of knowing what changed without checking each extension manually. They are not there to “show off what I did” or anything. The popup stops appearing when you read them (or turn notifications off, though you need to read them first if you have unread messages).
Asks
I like getting asks, and appreciate them. I like getting bug reports since Tumblr is always changing things, and bug reports help me, one man, to spot all the changes. I like getting suggestions, and most of them (if they are possible to implement) are implemented in a week or two.
But there is a difference between “hey do you think you can add ______?” and “I HAVE BEEN USING YOUR F-CKING SHIT FOR 2 WEEKS AND YOU STILL HAVEN’T ADDED __________ LIKE WTF?!”.
The former is nice to get. It helps me and other XKit users. The latter sucks the fun of working on XKit. XKit is not my main job, I don’t make a living off it, it’s a hobby. And a hobby without fun is no hobby, it’s just me wasting my weekends staying at home working on something I don’t like, for free.
Also, you don’t need to thank me when sending a bug report or a suggestion, I should be thanking you for doing that. This is just a request to tone down the language a little bit before I have a breakdown.
Thank you for reading.
I’m so sorry about that, but 1.0 Rev C seems to be broken. It is caused by a “gremlin” on the source code file, an invisible character that causes errors on XKit servers. It is fixed on version 1.0 Rev D.
If your Go-To-Dash isn’t working, please wait an hour or two for XKit to update itself again, or uninstall Go-To-Dash and reinstall it again from the Extension Gallery.
Again, this my fault. My apologies.
A couple of small features and bug fixes today, as promised yesterday. I hope you like them, and if you find any bugs, please let me know by sending me an ask. Thank you!

Automatic XIM PIN Resetting
Now you can reset your XIM PIN without waiting for me to do that. Just make sure you are using XIM 3.3 (update manually or wait for XKit to update it) and then click on “Reset my PIN” on the “Enter PIN” window.
If you are interested on how it works, XIM will create a private post on your blog, used to make sure that you are the owner of the blog, and let XIM Server check it. If they match, your PIN is reset, and the post is deleted from your blog.
Bug fixes by Github community
I was really busy with work this week (a big demo done today, another one next week. ugh.) so I couldn’t work much on XKit, but two great people fixed the following on Github:
I will be adding features and bug fixes this weekend. I’m working on Audio Downloader downloading wrong files sometimes, and more options on Show More extension. Thank you for your patience.
I think I’ve fixed reblogging not working on tag pages. It looks like it happened if you turn “Blog Selector” off, causing XKit to set the blog id to be blank, causing this.
I’ve just pushed version 2.0 that should fix this bug, especially if you have Blog Selector unchecked from your preferences. If you still get an error message, please let me know by an ask.
Also, thank you so much to those who have helped me identify this problem. =3
If you are receiving error codes mentioning corrupt or missing files while installing or running XKit, it’s because your Chrome User Profile file is corrupt.
There are a few reasons why this might happen, such as:
Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about this. If your user profile is corrupt, XKit will not be able to store data such as its extensions, and will fail to load.
But you can fix this by following the instructions below:
If the steps above do not fix the problem, you need to create a new user profile file, steps provided here.
Again, this is a problem related to Chrome’s corrupt files, and there is nothing else I can do but to provide these instructions.
I’ve added functionality to force One-Click Postage to preserve the post type, so Tumblr wouldn’t turn long text posts into links. This also fixes a bug where the commentary you’ve added would get lost when Tumblr changed the post type.
There is a known bug in One-Click Postage, where in some cases it might refuse to reblog posts on tag search pages. I’ve been trying for days to fix this, but I just can’t reproduce it myself on my account, so I’ve added error messages with specific codes. (Update: Version 2.0 should fix this.)
If you hit one of them, please send me an ask with the error code, along with what tag you were searching for so I can inspect and fix this sooner.
Thank you so much. =3
A few small bug fixes today:
Shuffle Queue (version 1.4 Rev A)
Blacklist (version 1.4 Rev A )
Bookmarker (version 1.1 Rev A)
(Update: Also, One-Click Postage.)
If you still experience the problems listed above, even after manually updating the extensions, please let me know by sending me an ask.
Thank you!
There was a bug in Blacklist which limited blacklisted words to two (ie: “Doctor Who” would work, but “Doctor Who Goes to Back in Time” wouldn’t.)
It is now increased to 5 words, while I rewrite some parts of Blacklist to remove this limitation.
I apologize if you’ve seen things that you were trying to block.
I’ve fixed it, and you will get the update in an hour. You can also manually update Blacklist.
It looks like someone somewhere hates when people shuffle their queues.
For the 3rd time in the last 2 months, it looks like they’ve changed the way Queue works, breaking Shuffle Queue.
I’ll provide a fix as soon as possible, I’m sorry about this.
Thank you for your patience.
Update:
Fixed now. Updating Shuffle Queue to version 1.4 should fix it.
As promised, I’ve changed the way XKit News work.
Now, news items are divided into two:
Under the News section of the Others panel in your XKit Control Panel, you can turn off Feature Updates, and only receive important ones.
If you don’t have the News section yet, it means you need to wait an hour before XKit updates itself. You can also if you want do the following if you don’t want to wait:
This is pretty new, so if you get a Feature Update even after turning them off, please let me know so I can see what might be causing it. Thank you!
I’ve just pushed 7.1.0 for Chrome, Safari and Firefox users.
On Chrome, it should automatically update itself soon. If it does not, please try the following:
On Firefox and Safari, please go to the download page and download the latest version. No need to delete XKit, just reinstall on top of that and it should fix it.
After that, on the About tab of XKit Control Panel, it should read “XKit 7.1.0”
Again, I am terribly sorry. I’ve forgotten that news debugging code line again in code while trying to fix a bug in XKit Control Panel, causing all this. Under normal circumstances, the pop-up should appear every 3 hours when the server is completely down, a line of code made it check every time you refresh the page, hammering the server.
Ugh again I wake up to a server error, again, my fault.
I’m trying to fix the error, I am terribly sorry.
Fixes will be provided in ~10 minutes.
I’ve gotten a few bug reports saying that xkit.info is unreachable, causing problems with XKit. This apparently goes away and the server is reachable if you wait a minute or two, and I don’t know what is causing it.
I can not reproduce this myself, so it might be a regional error, not effecting everyone.
xkit.info is hosted on servers that I can not control, but I’ve e-mailed their tech support asking what is going on. If it continues even after waiting a few minutes, please let me know so I can call and talk to them.
Thank you, and my apologies in advance if this causes a problem tonight.

I’ve fixed a bug that in some cases might cause XKit to sometimes not boot up on Safari. This usually happens when you refresh the page. When you move to another page or open a new tab, it boots up.
If you are on XKit 7.0.5 and on Safari, please re-download and upgrade to XKit 7.0.6 from the download page.
I’m sorry about this.
I’ve fixed Wrap Tags, Hide Radar / Share Button on Tweaks.
XKit will automatically update it for you soon but you might want to manually update it from the control panel if non-wrapping tags really annoy you by clicking on XKit Control Panel > Tweaks > Update. =3
It looks like Tumblr rolled the latest version of Archive again. Yesterday, notes on Notifications+ weren’t working on some posts. Today, it stopped working on all notifications.
I’ve rewritten the part of Notifications+ that reads notes, and if you update it to version 1.1 Rev A, it should be working again.
A side note: It looks like the new Archive does not update notes count as frequently as the old version did, so notes count might be a little out of date. There is nothing I can do about that.
Many of you sent me asks or reblogged today’s update post by saying that removing sponsored posts is a bad idea.
Today’s and (in case you’ve missed) yesterday’s updates:

Update: A new extension, Show More is also now available.
Sponsored Posts and Quote Text options are brand new, and might contain some bugs. If you find something, please let me know by sending me an ask. Thank you!
PS: A lot of other new features and bug fixes will be made available as soon as I get some more free time. Thank you for your patience and support. =3
PPS: As you can see I’m now combining days in order to not spam your XKit Inbox. Again, this last 2-3 weeks was kind of chaotic with server crashes and Tumblr changes, so I apologize if I’ve sent a lot of news items lately.
PPPS: I’m so sorry about the delays on XIM PIN resets, and I’m working on implementing a system that will allow you to reset the PIN yourself automatically.
