A recent Tumblr change broke Audio Downloader on Firefox and Safari, and the issue should be fixed now. Since on both those browsers, XKit uses my servers as a “proxy” when downloading audio files, and the fix was applied server-side, you don’t have to update Audio Downloader.
Also, once again I apologize for the delays in answering your asks, they will be answered as soon as possible.

First of all, I apologize for some delays in answering your asks. I’ve received a lot of asks since the survey started, so it might take a day or two to get a reply. I’m sorry about this and I hope you can understand.
And secondly, the results of yesterday’s survey, as part of my policy on transparency, are now available here, with commentary. And thank you so much for everyone who participated in the survey!
Today’s list is kinda long, so it’s been read-mored.
I apologize if you are on mobile.
Right now, all XKit servers are down for an unknown reason: xkit.info is not working, and you might have trouble updating/installing XKit, using some of it’s features or even visiting this blog (since some of the theme files are hosted on the same servers).
What is going on is beyond me, since even my web hosting provider’s “service status” website is down. Seems like they are having an outage.
If XKit complains about not being able to update itself and asks for you to reset it, please do not reset it. It will stop asking you once the servers are back up again.
This is beyond me and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it, but please accept my apologizes. Thank you for your patience.
UPDATE: The issue seems to be fixed now.
Traditionally, XKit had 5 megabytes of storage. To ration this, each extension got 150 kilobytes of storage space. Although this was more than enough at first, with extensions like Post Archiver needing more and more data to save, it just is not enough anymore.
XKit 7.4.0 now lets extensions storage up to 10 megabytes worth of data, which should be enough to store, for example, thousands of posts on the Post Archiver.
If you are still on XKit 7.3.6 or below, first update extensions from XKit Control Panel > Other > Update All and then follow the instructions here. If you are on Chrome, you can wait for Chrome to update XKit.
After updating, the Storage panel under XKit Control Panel > Other should say that you have a version of XKit with unlimited storage.
I’m working on bringing this to the Opera version of XKit. In the meanwhile, please do not sync your non-Opera XKit with an Opera XKit, since it might give out storage errors.
This is still kind of experimental, so if you hit any bugs, please let me know by sending me an ask. Thank you!

I apologize deeply for not being able to reply to your asks for the last 2 days. I will be gone for a few days for school, work and personal reasons, and I will be replying as soon as I come back. Sorry in advance for the lack of updates while I’m gone.
In the meanwhile, here are some answers to the common questions I’ve been receiving recently:
Again, apologies for the lack of updates.
Thank you for your patience, and using XKit!
A lot of people (including myself) are experiencing a “Bad Gateway” error, this is not related to XKit, but rather a problem with Tumblr’s servers.
You might not be able to see your dashboard or your blog, and even if you do, you might experience problems reblogging and creating posts, whether you use Tumblr’s functions or XKit’s One-Click Postage.
Features such as TagViewer, One-Click Reply, XInbox and others might also give out error messages and refuse to work.
Again, this has nothing to do with XKit and there is nothing I can do about this, I’m sorry.
Post Archiver (0.2 Rev A)

I’ve received a lot of asks about Post Archiver “deleting” the archive when adding new posts on Firefox. After 4 hours, it turns out it’s a Firefox bug, related to the way it handles Unicode strings. (or, incapable of handling, to be precise.)
I apologize deeply if you’ve lost any archived posts because of this.
I’ve just released version “0.1 Rev F”, which should fix this problem. If the problem continues after updating it from it’s control panel and refreshing the page, please let me know. Thank you!
I’m also working on many wonderful suggestions I’ve received related to Post Archiver, such as collapsable categories, auto-titles and more, and will make them available as soon as they are complete.
A few things about the new extension.
First, a few people reported some bugs, which are now fixed. Updating Post Archiver from the control panel and refreshing the page should fix a lot of problems, including but not limited to some photo posts not showing up on the view mode and unnecessarily long search box on Firefox.
And secondly, for now, Post Archiver does not support archiving from the drafts page due to the way Tumblr works. I’m working on it, and will be providing support for that as soon as possible. I’m sorry about that.

This version includes a new feature, written by hackedy, that removes the “web” and “tumblr” search buttons on the search bar and restores the “new” box that appears when you have unread posts on tracked tags.
To use it, make sure you have Tweaks 2.7 Rev A (you can use XKit Control Panel > Tweaks > Update to update it manually or wait for XKit to update itself) then enable “Remove the web search button and show a "new” bubble when tracked tags update“ under the "Navigation and Search Tweaks” section of the Tweaks control panel.
I’m just posting this so you wouldn’t get the wrong idea about me: as I’ve stated before (this link is also at the top of the Ask page), I can’t reply to posts that does not provide browser name, XKit version and if there is an error code, that error code.
The reason is simple: these days I’m spending more time answering posts than actually working on XKit. For example, just today I’ve answered over 50 posts about Safari even though I’ve been posting about it for two days. This also kinda explains the lack of new features, so not only it tires me a lot, it is also effecting every single XKit user.
Writing “It’s not working, why?” is no different than calling your vet and asking them why your cat isn’t meowing: it provides no information whatsoever to me so I can solve your problem.
So if you’ve sent an ask but did not get a response, the chances are:
(Also, if your message fits a standard ask and does not contain links, please refrain from sending Fan Mail: for various reasons, they are much much slower/harder for me to reply to.)
Again, I apologize terribly if this sounds vein or rude: I’m just doing this to provide timely updates and new features for every single to enjoy. Thank you!

XKit Patches
Once again, if you are using Safari 6.1.1 or 7.0.1, due to changes Apple made, you need to update to XKit 7.3.2 available here.
Just re-download XKit from the link above and restart your browser. Your preferences will be preserved. Please send me an ask only after if you’ve updated to 7.3.2 and the XKit is still not showing up. Thank you!
I’m aware that there is an incompatibility between Safari 7.0.1 and XKit, but I’m afraid I can’t provide any official new release to fix it today.
Update: As I’ve received more than a few messages about the “temporary” update fixing the problem both on 7.0.1 and older versions of Safari, it’s now available as an official download on the XKit website.
If you are having problem with XKit disappearing on Safari, please just re-download XKit from xkit.info/download and restart your browser. Your settings will be preserved.

I’ve been receiving a lot of asks about the post limit recently, asking me why I put such a limit or if I can come up with a way to raise the limit so I would like to clarify one thing:
The post limit, set to 250 posts per day and resets at midnight, New York time, is set by Tumblr and enforced server-side. So it’s not me who set that limit and, nope, I’m really sorry but there is absolutely nothing I can do about this.
