I’ve decided post some answers to the most commonly asked questions. Since these questions are related to the “infancy” of XKit 7, I’ll just post them here and not add them to FAQ, at least not yet.
What happened to Follower Checker?
Please see this post.
Can you make group-chats on XIM?
Can it automatically find other XIM users I follow?
I can’t, since the server can barely support the current system. If there is enough donations for me to upgrade it, make it faster, then perhaps. For example, I’ve implemented (70% of it), but not activated photo-sending on XIM for the exact same reason. It would crash and burn the poor server.
Which extensions will not come back?
I currently have no plans to bring the following back for various reasons, mostly for stability and performance: XWidgets, XGrid, In-Dashboard Inbox and Glowing Follow.
How “beta” is XKit 7?
On Chrome, it’s fairly stable. On Firefox, it’s working, and actually at some points even more stable than XKit 6, but not as stable as I want it to be. So if you use Chrome (or Firefox, actually), don’t be afraid and give it a try.
When is Safari version coming?
I’m working on it, along with an Opera port. No promises at all on the Opera port though, I’ll experiment with it to see how it goes.
Do I have to remove [Insert Extension Name here]? It asked me to.
XKit does not force you uninstall any extensions (except XKit 6 and XKit Next, for obvious reasons) but alerts you if there is a what I call potential “extension conflict”. (for a short answer: I’m not forcing you to delete any extensions, but I know for a fact some extensions out there breaks XKit, badly, so you should disable them before filing a bug report, since they might be causing it.)
And I apologize in advance if I can’t update XKit / reply to asks much these next week(s), we have a busy week at work, and I have some final papers to write to pass some classes. Thank you! If you have a question, let me know! (oh and also: If it’s bug related, I usually reply after finding the bug, or fixing it.) I also have this Excel spreadsheet of things to do which I tick things off when they are done. If a lot of people are interested, I can make that publicly available so you can stalk my progress.
