New Feature: Shorten Posts! (beta)

Tired of scrolling down, trying to get pass those long, long, long text posts? XKit is here to help! (well, provided that you download the extension for it.)

Introducing Shorten Posts Extension!

The Shorten Posts Extension detects long posts, and only shows part of it until you click on the “Read the rest” button.

To download Shorten Posts:

  1. Click on the X icon on your Dashboard
  2. Click on Extension Gallery
  3. Select “Shorten Posts (beta)”

Note that this is a public beta. It has been tested on both Firefox and Chrome, but it can act strangely. If you encounter any bugs, please send me a bug report. Thank you.

Available now: One-Click Postage 2.0

A brand new version of One-Click Postage is now available. Completely rewritten from scratch, the new version has a new user interface, as well as the ability to choose which blog to reblog/queue/draft to.

You don’t have to click on the green button if you are going to post it to  your main blog, you can just click on the icon!

Ability to add Tags in your posts are coming soon.

You should get the new version in a few hours. If you don’t, or want to update manually (recommended), here’s how:

  1. Click on the X icon on your Dashboard
  2. Click on Manage Extensions
  3. Select One-Click Postage
  4. Click on Re-Install / Manually Update This Extension
  5. The version should read “Version 2.0 REV A”

NEW EXTENSION: Quick-Asks

Now, with the Quick-Asks extension, you can send Asks to people without even leaving your dashboard! Just click “i” icon on the users icon on your dashboard, and select Ask.

To get the Quick Asks Extension:

  1. Click on the X icon on top of your Dashboard.
  2. Click Extension Gallery.
  3. Select Quick-Asks.
  4. Refresh the page.

XPreview extension on XKit now supports text posts.

You can now check the notes of your text posts by hovering over them.
Support for photo-sets are coming soon.

You should get the new version in a few hours, but if you don’t want to wait, or update it manually (recommended), here’s how:

  1. Click on the X icon
  2. Click Manage Extensions, then XPreview
  3. Click on Re-install / Manually Update this Extension
  4. The version of XPreview should then read “1.1 REV A”

Reminder: Update your Update Manager!

If you have installed XKit before the last 12 hours, you might have a “broken” update manager.

This might cause random error messages, and XKit might keep telling you that it updates certain packages, even though it doesn’t.

Please follow the instructions here to fix it.

XKit 5.1 is out, which, hopefully, will fix many of the known bugs in 5.0. It is highly recommended that you upgrade to 5.1 if you are using Google Chrome.
