How to manually update extensions

From time to time, you might need to manually update extensions. On XKit, extensions get updated automatically, every 2-3 hours. But sometimes, a bug might prevent XKit from updating itself, or you just might not want to wait that long for the bug fix.

So, here’s how to automatically update extensions:

XKit 5.x:

  1. Click on the X icon
  2. Click on Manage Extensions
  3. Pick an extension and then “Re-install / Manually Update”
  4. Refresh the page(s)

XKit 6:

  1. Click on the X icon
  2. Pick an extension and then click “Manually Update”
  3. Refresh the page(s)

Three simple tips when it comes to troubleshooting.
  1. [Chrome Only] If XKit keeps re-installing itself:
It’s because you clear your cache/history. On Chrome, this also causes XKit to lose its settings. There isn’t much I can do about this, sorry about that.

  2. Update and Reset
Only the latest version of XKit is supported, since supporting only one version is hard enough for one man to handle. If you are experiencing problems, please upgrade to the latest version, and reset XKit by going to www.tumblr.com/xkit_reset.

  3. Check the Troubleshooting tool
The online troubleshooting tool helps you find and fix the problem, and let me know if you can’t. =3

Thank you.

If you are going to reblog/queue/draft to your main blog, you don’t need to click on the green button on the pop-up window. You can just click on the icon itself.

If you don’t have any sideblogs, or don’t care for adding tags, you can also turn that pop-up window off from X icon > Customize Extensions > One-Click Postage.
