I would like to clarify two things about XKit since I am getting a lot of asks about these.
Notifications
You can turn off notifications. The setting is under the “Other” tab, under “News” section. There is also a news item on the News tab titled “News Update” which describes how to turn them off, and I’ve made several posts on this blog on how to turn them off.
The notifications are there since most of the new features added are turned off by default to preserve your settings, and without them there is no way of knowing what changed without checking each extension manually. They are not there to “show off what I did” or anything. The popup stops appearing when you read them (or turn notifications off, though you need to read them first if you have unread messages).
Asks
I like getting asks, and appreciate them. I like getting bug reports since Tumblr is always changing things, and bug reports help me, one man, to spot all the changes. I like getting suggestions, and most of them (if they are possible to implement) are implemented in a week or two.
But there is a difference between “hey do you think you can add ______?” and “I HAVE BEEN USING YOUR F-CKING SHIT FOR 2 WEEKS AND YOU STILL HAVEN’T ADDED __________ LIKE WTF?!”.
The former is nice to get. It helps me and other XKit users. The latter sucks the fun of working on XKit. XKit is not my main job, I don’t make a living off it, it’s a hobby. And a hobby without fun is no hobby, it’s just me wasting my weekends staying at home working on something I don’t like, for free.
Also, you don’t need to thank me when sending a bug report or a suggestion, I should be thanking you for doing that. This is just a request to tone down the language a little bit before I have a breakdown.
Thank you for reading.
